Such a fun, imaginative story. I loved these books as a kid, and now my daughter gets lost in them. Great for kids who get bored with stories easily. My daughter is one of those types of readers but these stories keep her engaged.

A children's classic
I didn't realize when I ordered this, but it is one book with all 3 stories bound together. I should have read the description so that was on me. My daughter didn't care she just wanted the first book and didn't even know there were 2 more stories!
This book broke every PC rule in the book, was full of violence and inappropriate sexism and racial bias. It was also vaguely disturbing if I allowed myself to think about the Indian and the Cowboy as 'real' little people somehow transformed into plastic figurines and them again into a child's real-life playthings.
HOWEVER, despite all this, my son (who is the definition of a reluctant reader) couldn't put it down and neither could I. It was exciting, thrilling and a giant interactive adventure from a reader's perspective.
Warts and all, I give it 5 stars.
These books are old classics, but perfect for boys. My kids (5,6 &9) and I have been reading these as bed time stories, and they are perfect. We do a chapter a night, and it is a great story to keep all the kids entertained. I highly recommend getting the trilogy, because as soon as the first story if finished, you will want to move on to the second. It is a great family read.
Many people are offended by the language in the book which while this is your choice to be offended it is honestly a little silly. It's a book, it's historically accurate. That is ok. We can teach our children our past and then explain to them why it changed .. that is a good thing. My daughter 7, loved the first book and we are knee deep in the second and she likes this one as well.
My son loves this book. We had the first book individually and he wanted to read the rest, so we picked up the trilogy. Total win so far.
The book was rated "acceptable" by the seller, but it was actually between "good" and "very good". It has some age-related yellowing and the cover has some nicks, but otherwise it's in fine shape.
we were read this as kids 30 some years ago, and enjoyed it. as i read it to my kids, the stereotypes grate on my more modern pc trained ears. still fun stories though, and i'm finishing it because omri, the main character learns about indian culture and so my kids are learning too. overall, i think they will come away with respect as we discuss how some of omri's presumptions about indians were quite silly. reid writes with awesome vocabulary, so the book can be educational in that way for younger kids like mine.
